Citronella Dog Collars
Kind to your Beloved Dog

Citronella dog collars offer a simple, safe and kind solution when you can't get your beloved dog out of a bad habit of uncontrolled barking. Even the most tolerant of neighbors will not tolerate incessant yapping. Some dog owners actually have their beloved pet's vocal cord cut, to prevent any barking. These are drastic measures, which are also costly and in-humane.

You may have considered electric collars, which shock your beloved animal every time they bark, even for good reason, is not recommended as your dog suffers a mild electric shock, for doing what comes naturally. Nor is "debarking" the first solution, as it is expensive to have any surgical procedure requiring a veterinarian and anesthesia and by many it is considered in-humane and is illegal in some states.

Small dog breeds in particular are prone to barking as are several dog breeds. We do offer some solutions to barking, see dog behavior training suggestions. It is essential that behavior training is continued. When you cannot stop the uncontrolled barking for some reason or another, we recommend using the Citronella dog collars as a cost effective, safe and humane method to keep this problem under control, whilst continuing to train your beloved and precious pet.

How does it work?

The collar releases a spray of citronella fragrance each time the dog barks.  The smell is natural and pleasant to humans but hated by dogs.  You can adjust the collar to pick up sounds of just your dog, or if maladjusted the collar can pick up other dogs barking and release a puff of the citronella fragrance to your dog. The collar is designed as a supplement to behavioral modification and in time you should be able to dispense with the dreaded collar as your dog gets the idea that barking creates an unpleasant (but not painful) experience. Citronella can stain furniture such as rugs and curtains which you may need to take into consideration.

The Citronella Collar is not effective on all dogs, but clinical reports evaluate them as 80% successful for a variety of  barking behaviors.

Many types of dogs are only exercising a normal, genetic and ingrained instinct.
