Bischon Frise
Puff Ball of Happiness

Bischon Frise

Bischon Frise a happy little creature with the most appealing looks.

Bischons have a very pleasant disposition, they do not fight with other dogs and therefore are a great choice as a supplement to a home with another dog.

This dog was bred to please, but is "touch shy" to sudden touching. A gentle approach is required with these small dog breeds.

History Originally from the Canary Islands of Tenerife. In 14th Century this happy toy dog breed, enjoyed Royal patronage, but was also a "common street dog".
Personality Extremely pleasant personality.  Very playful and is friendly with all that he comes into contact with.
Appearance Fluffy,  and snow white with some apricot in puppies.  Big round dark eyes and nose.
Grooming Daily brushing essential to keep the plush, velvety coat, fluffy and prevent matting.  Regular grooming and coat shaping required.
Health This is a healthy breed, with no serious health issues however, Bischons are prone to weeping eyes, ear infections and skin conditions.
Family Enjoys companionship and like many lap dogs, do not enjoy being left alone for long periods.  Suits the elderly and gets on well with other pets.
Training Can be difficult to house train, needs firm potty training, but is very quick to learn tricks and is a highly entertaining. A fun toy dog breed to train and play with.
Ideal Home These small dog breeds, suit any living condition provided it gets long daily walks. A dog for people with allergies as it is very low shedding.  A fluffy and hypo-allergenic dog breed.
Lifespan Small dog breeds usually have a  lifespan up to 14 year.  The Bischon Frise is no different, but if well looked after this breed has been known to exceed 16 years.
Purpose Companion pet and therapy animal.
Watch dog This friendly little bundle of love, will welcome strangers and friends alike. Not good as an alert dog.

Our little pets rely on us for their every need.
They cannot feed themselves as we have bred them to be our companions which they do admirably.  We need to care for them as we would a defenceless baby.
Dog Grooming as well as when they are older
