Coton de Tulear

Related to the Bichon family of dogs, brought to Madagascar by the French as a ratter. Bred with the Maltese to create the new breed named after Madagascar's Bay of Tulear. These small dog breeds are popular, hypo allergenic breeds as their coat is more hair than fur.
The Coton de Tulear is highly affectionate and don't like to be left alone for long periods. It is essential, with this small white dog, to lead with pack behavior, where you are the leader. You need to establish leadership to avoid dog separation anxiety common in neurotic dogs which don't know their place in the pack. A firm hand will ensure a happy and content pet, free from neurosis.
Firm and early training is essential but you will be rewarded with an endearing pet, anxious to please its owner.Extremely entertaining, this small white dogloves dancing on its hind legs and are good swimmers, enjoying a dip whenever possible. These types of dogs are suitable for apartment living, but must have a daily walk.
This non shedding dog, needs daily brushing and only an occasional bath. Clipping of the hair between their toes and inner ear is all that is required. No clipping of their coat is required.
Puppies showing color of champagne usually become white as they mature. This fluffy dog, has no undercoat, therefore they need protection from the cold.
