The French Toy Poodle has all the characteristics of the two larger Poodle breeds, namely the standard and the miniature.  Many believe the Standard to be the most hypo-allergenic of the three sizes, but smaller being equal to less of everything.  These beautiful small dog breeds do not shed although they have abundant, curly coats which need daily grooming and a trip to the "poodle" parlor every 6 weeks.  

French Poodles are a high energy breed but care must be taken not to over-exercise this lap dog.  They excel at obedience and are very responsive to training.  Generally they have high spirits which takes them into their old age.  Toy poodles are well known for their intelligence and has a long lifespan easily reaching 17 years.

This is a very lovable lap dog that demands his human owner's attention and does not like to be left alone and cannot be kenneled outdoors.  If you are considering this breed, please bear this in mind or your will have a very unhappy pet on your hands.  Dog Separation Anxiety is a possible complication with French Toy Poodles, particularly if you are not a strong and consistent owner.

These are perfect dogs for people with allergies as even though they have an enormous amount of hair.   This is the most popular hypo-allergenic breed as they do not shed and do not have a "doggie" smell. Their coats need daily maintenance and regular clipping is necessary although a home cut is possible if you have the right equipment and just want a "easy-care" trim.  In addition to coat maintenance, their ears needs to be checked weekly as this little tot is prone to ear infections as well as eye conjunctivitis.

This National dog of France, loves to be part of the family.  The toy and miniature poodles are easy to transport, making a trip to the mall an exciting affair!
