Welcome All Dog Lovers

Aboutsmalldogbreeds.com is dedicated to my beloved pet Valentine. She remains the love of my life. She was the most amazing companion, confidante, protector, get me up in the morning kind of person (yes person) that I could ever have imagined when I bought her as a Valentine's day gift 16 years ago.

I had to say goodbye in July 2010.  After many months of medication to assist with her arthritic condition, I was forced to make the very difficult, but loving decision to have my vet to peacefully and painlessly euthanase my precious and beloved baby.  In trying to obtain solutions for her ageing condition, I searched the web and loved so many of the sites I became inspired to do something as a living memorial for my beautiful and devoted companion.

Naturally she followed me everywhere, but as a younger puppy and teenager she needed a lot of exercise. She had a least one daily walk, mostly two, often more. Even at the age of 16 which meant she was over 105 years in human age, she still walked a good par 5 and back (to those who don't play golf) that is about half a mile. Quite sad in terms of her old self when a hard run or a 2 hour walk was just an appetizer.

The most important aspect of her longevity was diet, regular exercise, very few (human) snacks and good kennelling (she slept inside) and veterinarian treatment when required. Oh and lots and of love, hugs, kisses and telling her how beautiful she was. She really did understand me.

She was just there for loving, kissing and affection. Pure and simple, no airs and graces, a dog giving unconditional love as millions of beautiful and not so beautiful dogs and puppies have done for their loving parents.

In addition to the dedication to Valentine, I dedicate this site to all my family and friends who are dog and animal lovers, who continue to provide me with the valuable information contained on the website. Especially to my dear friend who has just acquired a gorgeous Boston Terrier, (Coco Chanel) (don't tell Valentine!) Also to the many dogs (and cats and other creatures) who have made an impact in my life. Umbra and Dakota, Smudge, Buffy and Gizmo (Big Boy), Stephanie, Penny (the rabbit RIP). To special cats Smudge, Sootie and Russo, Princess, Stacia and Katz. I dare not forget Goliath, Hagler and Teegan, Roxy and Bruno, Ema, Bella and Jehi and lastly to Khali.

To the memories of Chippy (my first love) Goldie, Diesel, Lobo, Scruffy, Tubsnot, Charles, Shadow, Whip, Jerrico, Sammy and Jessica and lastly my tea cup Chachi.

All of you beautiful creatures have a place in my heart.

I learnt all about caring for dogs from my beloved parents. Thank you Mom and Dad for giving me the gift of love and compassion for all creatures large and small.
