Lhaso Apso Dog Lovable Mop with Attitude
The Lhaso Apso Dog (correctly spelt Lhasa Apso) is one of 4 types of dogs indigenous to Tibet. This miniature dog breed was introduced to the Western World as a gift by the Dalai Lama to the USA. These very pretty dogs belie a stubborn personality and are not recommended for first time dog owners. A strong pack leader who understands pack behavior is required to ensure these types of dogs do not become neurotic or challenge their owners for dominance.

This miniature dog breed is known for it's strong personality and guarding capabilities. A relatively healthy breed, except for skin allergies, these small dog breeds must have plenty of attention and love and does not need excessive exercising.
The Lhasa Apso was bred for guarding the Tibetan Monasteries in rugged and inhospitable climates. Their thick, floor length coats need vigorous daily brushing and comes in all colors.
This breed of dog but is suitable for apartment living but can be noisy. Most importantly, this miniature dog breed must not be treated like a toy dog. They thrive with an owner who is a strong pack leader if not they will suffer from Dog Separation Anxiety and will guard their food and their toys. Should they challenge pack leader status they can become snappy and are not suitable for young children.
The Lhaso Apso dog breed is an excellent watch dog and generally bond with one person, they do not enjoy the company of other dogs but are good with other family pets. This miniature dog breed, unlike most other toy dog breeds, are not cuddly lap dogs and must be treated with a firm hand and not be spoilt.
