Pug Dog Breed

| History | One of the oldest breeds, possibly going back 1000 years. This breed has enjoyed royal patronage throughout the centuries. Originated in China, although their is a debate which would argue this cute Pug originated in Russia. |
| Personality | Good tempered, stable personality, intelligent , stubborn and affectionate. |
| Appearance | Short fine coat. Outer coat is water resistant. Under coat is velvety soft. Colors are Silver, apricot, fawn or black. All with black mask and ears. |
| Grooming | Their shiny short coat needs minimal grooming, a weekly brush is sufficient. Eyes though need regular checking. |
| Health | The Pug Dog Breed is prone to obesity, breathing problems, Pug Dog encephalitis, orthopedic and dental problems. |
| Family | Ideal family pet or as a devoted companion to single or elderly folk. |
| Training | Some training is recommended but not ideal. This breed of dog is very intelligent and not difficult to potty train. |
| Ideal Home | Highly suited to an apartment, does not need much excercise. As with different types of dog breeds, he is sensitive to the cold and extreme heat. Like many small dog breeds MUST live indoors. |
| Lifespan | Up to 12 - 15 years. |
| Purpose | Entirely intended as companion pets and therapy pet. |
| Watch dog | Good alert dog. Is not friendly to strangers. |
