The cute pug one of the Brachycephalic dog breeds is known for his facial wrinkles, protruding, large dark eyes and very short snout, making them quite comical and lovable.

"Pug" being a term of endearment.  They are humorous, playful and generally very good humored.  Of all small dog breeds, this little sweetheart is easy to train and needs to be treated gently. These toy dog breeds are very low maintenance due to their short coat requiring nothing more than a weekly brush.

These short coated, types of dogs, do not tolerate extreme cold or heat and must be allowed to have temperate living conditions.  Certainly they cannot be left outdoors in the heat of the day or the cold of the night.  They must be housed in-doors and are intended for your lap!

This barrel of fun enjoys doing nothing but loving his owners and are accepting of other pets, but are very happy being the only dog.  He is perfectly content in an apartment as he is happy to forgo any exercise.

This little tub does tend to obesity so it is important to control their diet and to try to give some moderate, daily exercise.

As with all toy dog breeds with a short snout, they can be noisy sleepers and are also prone to flatulence. Feeding them with small regular meals helps with bloating and weight control.

Besides obesity and breathing problems, this toy dog breed is prone to eye and eyelid abnormalities, dental problems, patellar luxation and Pug encephalities.  Pet Insurance is highly recommended for this breed to cover the inevitable veterinarian bills.

An Intelligent Breed -This Pug is no Mug
